Welcome

The Specialised Group of NMR of the Spanish Royal Society of Chemistry (GERMN, RSEQ) is pleased to announce the XIV Manuel Rico NMR School. This well-established bi-annual summer course is aimed at PhD students, postdocs, technical staff of NMR facilities and, in general, to researchers from academy and industry interested in deepening their understanding of NMR. The course covers theoretical aspects, state-of-the-art methods and applications in fields as diverse as Molecular Chemistry, Materials, Biology, Medicine, and Pharmaceutical Industry, including solution-state, and solid-state NMR techniques, as well as MRI techniques.

    Pre-Registration

It is best to pre-register for the course as soon as possible since the number of attendees will be limited by the capacity of the room. The priority will be assigned based on the pre-registration date and the relationship of the professional or research activity with the content of the course. An attempt will be made to achieve as wide a geographic representation of the attendees as possible.

    Important deadlines

  • End of pre-registration April 12th, 2022

  • Start of Registration: April 30th, 2022

  • End of Registration: May 17th, 2022

  • Registration fees

    Members of GERMN   450 EUR
Members of the RSEQ   550 EUR
    Other   600 EUR

  • The registration fee includes accommodation at the University Residence of Jaca with arrival on Sunday, June 19th and departure on Friday, June 24th, in half board (breakfast & lunch) and double room.

  • A number of travel aids (100 EUR) will be awarded to help young researches attend the meeting. The total number of aids will depend on budget availability.

  • Travel aids should be applied for at pre-registration. With their request, they must attach a letter from their supervisor explaining the benefits expected for the course in the context of their research project as well as the unavailability of alternative financing resources.

  • Elegibility criteria for travel aids:

  •       Applicants working in Spanish laboratories must be members of the GERMN society. (click here to access registration form)

Furthermore, a limited number of travel aids is reserved for applicants from countries other than Spain.

  • Senior technicians and researchers may apply to the GERMN (Spanish NMR Society) for assistance.

    Location and Accommodation

    General Information

The University Residence of Jaca was inaugurated in 1929 to accommodate the Summer Courses of Spanish Language and Culture of the University of Zaragoza.

At present, the Summer Courses include both courses directed to the study of Spanish as a foreign language, as well as the university extension focused on social interest topics. Outside the summer period, the Residence is the frequent venue for congresses, colloquia and scientific seminars, and hosts frequent cultural meetings.

    Location

Jaca is one of the privileged cities of Aragon for its communications with both sides of the Pyrenees, for its mild and pleasant climate and for its cultural and sporting offers.

We will take advantage of Jaca's proximity to the Pyrenees to visit and hike through the splendid "Lost Mountain/Ordesa Valley" National Park. In Winter, the most attractive feature is snow sports on the ski slopes of Candanchu, Astun, Panticosa and Formigal.

Throughout the year, in addition to the Municipal Pavilion of Ice, the possibilities of high mountain sports, hiking or cycling, allow you to climb the highest Pyrenean peaks or travel 90 km. of Camino de Santiago. In addition, Jaca alternates every two years with Oloron the headquarters of the Folkloric Festival of the Pyrenees.

    How to get there.

  • By car: Jaca-Huesca-Zaragoza (N-330) and Jaca-Pamplona (N-240)

  • By bus: There are regular lines from Zaragoza, Huesca and Pamplona to Jaca. Consult schedules at alosa

  • By train: Consult frequencies and schedules at renfe

  • The nearest airports to Jaca are in Huesca (75 km.), Zaragoza (150 km.), Pamplona (109 km.) and Pau in France (130 km.).
